Serbia, Hungary join segments of TurkStream gas pipeline

BELGRADE, Jul 5 (PRIME) -- Serbia and Hungary have joined their segments of Russian gas pipeline TurkStream, Director of Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic said on July 4.

Bajatovic told PRIME earlier that supplies of Russian gas across Hungary to Europe are to start on October 1. "We have thus finished great work, our country has finally solved the issue of gas supplies from a different source, not only through Ukraine," he said, as cited by the national television.

Russia is the only supplier of natural gas to Serbia, shipping more than 2 billion cubic meters of gas per year over the last several years. Delivery to Serbia by TurkStream were officially launched on January 1.
